Description:
This audiobook is narrated by a digital voice. Progressive Era Black journalist Ida B. Wells-Barnett originally presented this in-depth look in the epidemic of lynching in the late 19th century Southern United States as an address. She republished it as this pamphlet to help spread her research after Southern whites used threats and intimidation to shut down the Black-owned newspaper to which she was a contributor. A fearless truth-teller during a violent era of American history, Ms. Wells-Barnett was one of the original founders of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), although her name is left off of some contemporary lists of these founders since some of her fellow activists found her feminism too "radical." Today she is widely revered as both a groundbreaking American journalist and a foremother of inclusive feminism a century before the term "intersectional" entered popular culture. Duration - 1h 7m.
