Leave the Pitcher in Until He Dies (Marlins Series Recap, 7/1-7/3)

7/3/2025
Send us a text The Minnesota Twins manage just one victory in three games in Miami, much to the consternation of David and Dan, who are frustrated by the inconsistency of this offense -- and are also resigned to the fact that this team as constructed just isn't a playoff-ready team. That said, David is pleased with Rocco Baldelli's management of David Festa but is still ready to jettison many players on expiring contracts. Dan is wise to Rocco's roster management and is also eager to invite a few Twins players to his Fourth of July party. There's also lots around the league to discuss, including a milestone for a pitcher and a gambling scandal for a Twins rival. Thanks for listening, and go Twins! Appreciating the Baseball for the Baseball (Tigers Series Recap, 6/27-6/29)

6/30/2025
Send us a text David and Dan are somewhat surprised to say that the Minnesota Twins took a game from the first-place Detroit Tigers, who looked every bit the part in this three-game series at Comerica Park. David is happy to see that the Twins took the first game and looked so good in doing so. Dan has a plan that would ensure Byron Buxton gets his rightful start in the All-Star Game. Both of them are underwhelmed by the Twins' catching tandem, and neither is totally confident that Rocco Baldelli knows that bunts are in fact allowed in baseball. Thanks for listening, and go Twins! The Corn Dog Route (Mariners Series Recap, 6/23-6/26)

6/27/2025
Send us a text The Minnesota Twins lose two and win two against the visiting Seattle Mariners, giving David and Dan some hope that this year's team, now halfway through the season, isn't without hope. They critique the performances by all four starting pitchers and question the choices of manager Rocco Baldelli more than the decisions by Mariners skipper Dan Wilson. Both of them look toward the trade deadline and find little reason at this point to trade key assets. Still, they see lots to like in this series split as they look toward the next few series before the All-Star Break. Thanks for listening, and go Twins! A Pitcher in Name Only (Brewers Series Recap, 6/20-6/22)

6/23/2025
Send us a text At home against the rival Brewers, the Minnesota Twins drop all three games over a weekend series at Target Field, continuing a tailspin that looks a whole lot like the one the team endured at the end of last season. David laments just how often we've watched Jonah Bride pitch, while Dan offers a theory as to why Jake Bauers pitched as poorly as he did for the Brewers in Game 1. Dan also has a two-faced reading of Brooks Lee's series, and David heaps the praise on the one Twins player who deserves it right now. They also ponder whether the team should just bring back Eddie Julien and Jose Miranda now, considering how bad the offense has been anyway. Thanks for listening, and go Twins! The Look of Fatherly Disappointment (Reds Series Recap, 6/17-6/19)

6/20/2025
Send us a text The Minnesota Twins lose 2 of 3 to the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ballpark. David adds to his case that Willi Castro errors are always mental, never physical, while Dan is upset at the MLB's rules about official games. David is curious if Bailey Ober's face on the mound is different than the face he uses when his children want his attention, and Dan wants to know if Rocco is up to the challenge to manage Ober and Paddack through their rough patches on the mound. David is impressed with Brooks Lee's hitting streak, but he wishes the hits came at more opportune times, and Dan wants to know if the Twins will be above .500 come the All-Start break. The Whole Point of Architecture (Astros Series Recap, 6/13-6/15)

6/16/2025
Send us a text On Fathers' Day, David and Dan discuss the disappointing three-game series for the Minnesota Twins in Houston, where the Astros completed a sweep that so easily could have been a series win for the Twins. They process the injuries to Royce Lewis and Byron Buxton, lamenting the absences as part of the wasted chance here that the Twins had to build back some momentum. They also have words for the people who designed the Astros baseball stadium (going all the way back to its beginnings) while also wondering about Rocco Baldelli's handling of SWR and whether he might have been channeling the coaching style of a Minnesota legend. The Ineffable Things about Baseball (Rangers Series Recap, 6/10-6/12)

6/13/2025
Send us a text For the fourth time in their last five, the Minnesota Twins lose a series, this time to the visiting Texas Rangers. Andrew "Hoges" Hoganson fills in for David and helps Dan make sense of an up-and-down series that included a wonderful Game 2 victory and then two ugly blowout losses. Hoges heaps the praise on a "mature" Byron Buxton but wonders about the longevity of this battered starting rotation. Dan is thankful for the performance of young David Festa but is concerned that the AL Central might be out of reach already anyway. Thanks for listening, and go Twins! When You Play the Game of Walks... (Blue Jays Series Recap, 6/6-6/8)

6/9/2025
Send us a text The Minnesota Twins lose 2 of 3 to the Toronto Blue Jays at Target Field. Dan Thompson leads the charge on this episode as David has lost his voice. David tries his best to communicate using sounders as much as possible. Dan has a surprise pick for his Beast, and David is annoyed that the Twins managed to win game 3 of the series. David offers his medical estimation after seeing Royce Lewis slow on the dugout stairs, and Dan wants to know how much concern Twins fans should have after Zebby Matthews was added to the IL. Let the Good Guys Hit (Athletics Series Recap, 6/2-6/5)

6/6/2025
Send us a text The Minnesota Twins travel to Sacramento and have little trouble scoring runs with their full lineup back together, taking three of four from the Athletics, who are mired in a deep slump after a strong start. David and Dan discuss the role that dirt played in the series as well as the outspoken manner of Joe Ryan before jumping into the big question: How will the Twins fare without ace pitcher Pablo Lopez? Dan is pretty sure the Twins will fill his spot internally; David generally agrees and is very glad to see that Chris Paddack has been as good as he has this season. Dan gives David a gift on air, and they look around the league -- and the sports world -- at some notable happenings. Thanks for listening, and go Twins! This Fiery Version of Carlos Correa (Mariners Series Recap, 5/30-6/1)

6/2/2025
Send us a text With Dan and Andrew in attendance, the Minnesota Twins take the first but then lose the next two games against the Mariners at T-Mobile Park in Seattle. Dan talks with David about the experience of being there for such an exciting series, which from a neutral fan perspective would surely have been an excellent one to watch. They discuss the Twins' three ninth-inning comebacks, as well as the extra-inning flop in Game 2. David wonders where this fired-up version of Carlos Correa was earlier in the year, and Dan wonders what the Twins' plan is for Royce Lewis. Maybe, just maybe, Paul Molitor could speak to Lewis (and some other players) to make them better. Thanks for listening, and go Twins! The Ghosts of the Yankees (Rays Series Recap, 5/26-5/28)

5/29/2025
Send us a text The Minnesota Twins drop 2 of 3 to the Tampa Bay Rays at Steinbrenner Field. The Twins lose their first series since May 1st, and the guys discuss the lack of offensive production being the reason why the team dropped this series. Dan wants to know how many jersey changes Pablo Lopez did during his start, and also wants the Twins to add a Designated Hitter for Keirsey Jr. David wants to know if the offense will pickup with the return of Buxton and Wallner from the IL, and how much will it need to pickup if the pitching stays this dominant. Dan is curious if Royce Lewis weren't Royce Lewis and playing the way he currently plays if he would be sent down. The guys finish up by making their picks for the upcoming Mariners series. The Man Who Would Be King (Royals Series Recap, 5/22-5/24)

5/26/2025
Send us a text The Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals played three games that came down to the final inning, with the Twins taking the first two and the Royals taking the last. The heroes for the Twins included a more likely candidate in Ty France, and one that was less so (but perhaps shouldn't be so unlikely) in Kody Clemens. David and Dan discuss those heroics as well as the fine management of Rocco Baldelli, whose chess acumen David would love to test. Dan is again let down by the performance of Carson McCusker, who has yet to really show what he can do at the Big League level. They also look ahead to the Twins' longest road trip of the year. Baseball at Elevenses (Guardians Series Recap, 5/19-5/21)

5/22/2025
Send us a text Despite all the rain, the Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Guardians managed to get a couple games in at Target Field this series, splitting the pair. And that seemed just fine, considering how battered the Twins' lineup is now. David and Dan discuss the impact weather had on this series while seriously questioning how Rocco Baldelli handled it, while they also saw the ending to Game 1 as the most Minnesota ending a baseball game could have. They assess how the team is holding together the lineup without Carlos Correa and Byron Buxton, and they look ahead to a big weekend of baseball in the AL Central. Thanks for listening, and go Twins! 5/18/2025
Send us a text The Minnesota Twins take 2 of 3 from the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field. Andrew "Hoges" Hoganson fills in for Dan, and worries that filling in for Dan is what caused the winning streak to end. The boys talk through all of the latest injury news and the transactions processed by the team. David wants to know what the expectation should be for the upcoming American League Central series against the Guardians and the Royals knowing the roster will be a makeshift group. Hoges wants to know if Rocco managed differently to start the streak because he knew he was on the hot seat, while David just wonders if Rocco has also at times been confused about this winning streak. David loves Pablo Lopez showing off some swagger, and Hoges wants to know if the Twins are a legitimate playoff team. Hesitantly Drinking the Kool-Aid (Orioles Series Recap, 5/13-5/15)

5/16/2025
Send us a text The Minnesota Twins sweep the Baltimore Orioles in a three-game set at Camden Yards. The Twins extend their winning streak to 11-straight games, the most done so far in the MLB this year. Andrew "Hoges" Hoganson fills in for Dan Thompson, and the boys are giddy due to the Twins current streak. The guys discuss the unbelievable wins the Twins pulled out against all odds with several guys struggling with injuries and a overly-taxed bullpen. Hoges offers high praise for Rocco for managing to win these games, and David wants to see the Twins recall Randy Dobnak to fill in as a long reliever. David once again romanticizes a Kody Clemens homerun, while Hoges can't stop talking about Willi Castro's great catch in left. David is curious if this is what we can expect out of Chris Paddack moving forward, while Hoges wants to know how many AL Central teams will make the postseason. The guys break down the unexpected deep start from Chris Paddack, and dive further into the Louis Varland "Hulk" hype video. David is still upset every time he has to figure out how to watch the Twins, and Dan further refines his grading rubric. David wants to know if the recent surge for the team changes what they should do come the trade deadline, and Dan wants to see Carson McCusker at the big league level sooner rather than later. A Visible Out-of-Body Experience (Orioles Series Recap, 5/6-5/8)

5/9/2025
Send us a text The Minnesota Twins stayed hot at home, sweeping the Baltimore Orioles in convincing fashion across three games at Target Field. David and Dan discuss the many thrilling moments, which included a pair of three-run homeruns by Byron Buxton, a big blast from Carlos Correa, a significant workload from the bullpen and a memorable hit from Brooks Lee, to name just a few. Despite the long homer, David isn't so sure Correa is actually healthy and wonders whether he should go to the IL for a short stint. Dan is curious about just how good Jhoan Duran will end up being this season after this excellent opening six weeks. They also wonder: Was Louis Varland's shovel pass to first base just the lesson the Twins pitchers needed? And why is he being compared to The Hulk? Thanks for listening, and go Twins! Keeping the Romance Going with Kody (Red Sox Series Recap, 5/2-5/4)

5/5/2025
Send us a text The Minnesota Twins take 2 of 3 from the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The boys are thrilled that the Twins managed to win two games against a good baseball team, and in such dramatic fashion. Dan has high praise for Jhoan Duran while David has some harsh words for Carlos Correa. The guys have nothing but good things to say about Joe Ryan and Bailey Ober, and David wants to know if these guys will be Twins for the long haul. Dan changes his tune on Kody Clemens, and David wants Rocco to tweak the rules for runners on contact plays. The guys discuss the recent Athletic article explaining the changes to the umpire "buffer zone," and finish up by making their picks for the Baltimore Orioles series. A Progressive Field Christmas (Guardians Series Recap, 4/28-5/1)

5/2/2025
Send us a text The Minnesota Twins' latest visit to Cleveland goes about as well as they seem to: not well. The Twins win the first and then lose the next three in close fashion, dropping farther under .500 -- which is all still part of David's grand vision for their return to a winning record by mid-summer. David's optimism, though, is limited after seeing the bats go cold and the pitchers prove unable to get the ball to first base in key moments. Dan is not so sure Ryan Jeffers has truly turned a corner, but he is quite sure that a healthy Willi Castro would make a difference right now, considering Rocco Baldelli's bench options. David thinks the Twins should just bring Royce Lewis back now, even if he's just cheering from the bench until he's fully ready to return. Thanks for listening, and go Twins! You Always Want More Runs (Angels Series Recap, 4/25-4/27)

4/28/2025
Send us a text The Minnesota Twins complete their first sweep of 2025 taking three straight from the Los Angeles Angels at Target Field. The Twins were flying high with the return of Pablo Lopez to the roster and Royce Lewis starting a rehab assignment at AAA. While spirits were high there was some sadness as the Twins breakout prospect Luke Keaschall suffered a fractured forearm after being HBP in game 1. Dan praises Rocco's bullpen management and wonders if the Twins may try and move a starting pitcher before the trade deadline. David wants to know if Rocco will continue letting lefty batters see lefty pitchers once he has a full bench, and also wants to know what the reasonable expectations should be for Royce upon his return to the roster. The guys finish up discussing a new ump relegation idea, and make their picks for the upcoming 4-game set against the Cleveland Guardians. Thanks for listening, and as always, go Twins!
