The Rays win an incredible game 8-7 against the Pirates. This will go down as one of the craziest games of the year. The Rays got down 4-0 after 4 innings. Then there was a 2 and a half hour rain delay. Right after the rain delay the Rays would take the lead game in the 5th inning with a 5 run 5th highlighted by a Jonny Deluca 2 run double. The score would remain 5-4 until the 8th inning. The Pirates would tie the game with a 2 out single to make it 5-5. Then the madness would start in extras. No one would score in the 10th inning. In the 11th Taylor Walls scored on an error all the way from 1st. The Pirates would tie the game in the bottom of the 11th. After no score in the 12th inning Cedric Mullins blasted a 2 run homer to take a 8-6 lead. But the Pirates would not go quietly. They would score to make it 8-7 and got the tying run to 3rd with 2 outs. But Yoendrys Gomez would get out of it to secure the win. The Tampa Bay Rays win streak stops at 6 after a 5-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Rays could never get it going in this one. After the Pirates took the lead in the 2nd inning to make it 1-0 it would be a pitchers duel until the 6th inning. In that inning Junior Caminero ripped a RBI single to tie the game. That Caminero hit would be just 1 of 3 Rays hits on the night. The Pirates big swing came off the bat of O'neil Cruz he destroyed a 2 run home run off Griffin Jax to give the Pirates a 3-1 lead in the 6th. The Pirates would add 2 more in the 9th to put the game away. The Rays offense could not gain any momentum after that as the Rays could not mount a comeback. Nick Martinez started for the Rays and battled. He went 5.1 giving up 8 hits and 3 walks but pitched around the damage to only give up 2 earned runs. The Rays push their win streak to 6 after their 4-3 win vs the Chicago White Sox. After trailing 1-0 after 3 innings, Taylor Walls continued his hot start to the season with an RBI single in the 4th inning making it 1-1. Runs were hard to come by for both teams in this one. The White Sox would scratch across another run in the 6th inning to make it 2-1. The Rays answered right back with a 2 out 2 strike RBI single by Richie Palacios to tie the game at 2. The White Sox would deal a major blow in the 8th inning. Former Ray Evanson Pereira hit the go ahead home run to give the White Sox the 3-2 lead. But the Rays answered right back in the 9th inning with a monster Junior Caminero homer to tie the game. The Rays would then load the bases with 2 outs and Hunter Fedducia drew a clutch walk to tie the game. Steven Matz started for the Rays and was good again. The Rays win their 5th game in a row, beating the White Sox 8-3. The Rays got off to a hot start for the 2nd straight night. It started with a Junior Caminero solo homer in the 3rd that gave the Rays the lead. Then the Rays would add another 2 runs in the 5th highlighted by a Jonathan Aranda RBI double. Luke Fraley hit his first homer in the 6th to make it 4-0. Then the Rays would blow the game open in the 7th. A first inning error led to the first run for the Yankees, then a misplayed ball in the outfield gave the Yankees a 2-0 lead. Rays pitching would then keep Yankee hitters hitless until the 8th inning. Yandy Diaz wasted no time tying the game in the bottom of the first. He belted a 2 run homer to tie the game. The Rays would then take the lead in the 2nd inning on a RBI fielders choice by Chandler Simpson. Simpson then gave the Rays some insurance in the 6th inning with a RBI single. Jonathan Aranda then got another run home to make it 5-2. A solo homer from the Yankees in the 8th would make it 5-3. But Bryan Baker would hold it down in the 9th to pick up the win. The Tampa Bay Rays offense shines in the return to Tropicana field, beating the Cubs 6-4. For the first time in almost 2 years the Rays played a game at Tropicana field and it did not start out great. The Cubs took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning. Then the Rays offense would explode from there. It started with a 2 run home run by Cedric Mullins to tie the game. Then Yandy Diaz hit a RBI single to take a 3-2 lead. In the 3rd inning Junior Caminero blasted a no doubt home run to make it a 4-2 lead. The Cubs would add a run in the 6th to make it 4-3. But Jonathan Aranda would deliver the dagger with a huge 2 run homer to make it 6-3. The Cubs would add a run in the 9th but it would be to little to late. Shane McClanahan started for the Rays and was up and down. He went 4 IP striking out 5 but allowed 4 walks and 2 runs. The Rays pick up their first series win of the year, beating the Twins 4-1. For the first time in 4 games the Rays did not open the game with the lead. The Twins took the lead in the 2nd inning with a solo home run to make it 1-0. Rays starter Nick Martinez was lights out after that. He finished going 6 IP only allowing that 1 hit and striking out 4. The Rays offense got on the board with Junior Caminero hitting his first home run in the year in the 4th inning to make it 1-1. No team would score again until extra innings. In extras Richie Palacios hit a monster 2 run homer to make it 3-1. Junior Caminero drew a bases loaded walk to make it 4-1. The Rays bullpen would be lights out late to secure the win. The Rays are back at Tropicana field tomorrow for the first time in almost 2 years to open a 3 game series against the Cubs.
