The Tampa Bay Rays picked up a much-needed win on Wednesday night, edging the A’s 6-5 in a wild game. It didn’t start well for Tampa Bay, as the A’s jumped out to a 2-0 lead early. The Rays cut into the deficit in the bottom of the second when Jake Mangum raced around the bases for an inside-the-park home run to make it 2-1. After a quiet stretch, the Rays' offense broke through in the sixth. Josh Lowe launched a solo homer to dead center to tie the game, followed by a Brandon Lowe double and a towering two-run shot by Yandy Díaz that gave the Rays their first lead. Chandler Simpson added an RBI single as part of a two-run frame to stretch the lead to 6-2. The A's mounted a furious rally in the ninth, scoring three runs to make it 6-5 and loading the bases. But Edwin Uceta came through in the clutch, striking out Nick Kurtz to seal the win. Ryan Pepiot delivered a strong bounce-back start for the Rays, going six innings with nine strikeouts and earning the win. The Tampa Bay Rays can't complete the sweep, loosing to the Tigers 9-3. The Rays offense sputtered a bit in this one. After a Junior Caminero home run in the 4th inning tied the game at 1 the Rays could not muster another run until the game was already out of hand. They got runners in scoring position in the 4th, 5th and 7th but could not come through. They would add a few runs in the 9th after the Tigers already had a big lead. They finished 1/8 with RISP. The Tigers would hit a big 2 run home run in the 7th inning. But they would put the game away in the 9th inning scoring 6 runs in the inning. The Rays still had a winning homestand going 4-3. The Tampa Bay Rays settle for a series split, losing to the Baltimore Orioles 4-1. The Rays would get on the board first with a Danny Jansen RBI single in the 3rd inning. But he Orioles would immediately tie the game in the 4th inning and took the lead for good in the 6th. Colton Cowser hit a long 3 run home run off Edwin Uceta that gave the Orioles all the runs they needed. The Rays had chances to pull the game closer. They got runners in scoring position in the 6th and 7th innings and had the bases loaded in the 8th but could not come up with the big hit needed to make the game closer.
