All eyes have been on Paolo Banchero the entire season. He has been the center of criticism and frustration throughout the season. Banchero has still had a season that is statistically similar to his 2024 All-Star season. Some of the criticism is warranted as the young player continues to grow. But he still has the chance to make his statement as the Magic prepare for the postseason. Banchero is starting to play better and has made some important progress. The Orlando Magic roared back to full strength as Franz Wagner and Anthony Black shared the floor with the team for the first time since the December injury. The Orlando Magic have climbed back into the postseason chase to escape the Play-In. With three games remaining, they control their own destiny for the 8-seed and a guarantee for a home postseason game. They also still have an outside shot at escaping the Play-In entirely. The margin for error is small to achieve those goals. But doing so would be a small measure of redemption from a disappointing season. The Magic must make the most of these opportunities to gain some form of redemption. The good news in that is that Orlando will finally be healthy. The Orlando Magic scored a critical victory over the Detroit Pistons, securing their third straight win and their fifth in the last seven. The Orlando Magic needed to rally from a 15-point deficit to edge the New Orleans Pelicans. It was a gutsy performance where the Magic found their energy in a dominant defensive fourth quarter. And every win counts at this point of the season. But the seeming lack of energy has defined the season. The Orlando Magic crushed the Dallas Mavericks behind an energetic effort throughout the roster. It was a clear response to their coach challenging them after a frustrating defeat on Wednesday against the Atlanta Hawks. Several key players who are central to the team's energy stepped up, including Wendell Carter. Carter is not won to be loud with his play. But he scored a season-high 28 points to lead the Magic to a runaway victory, building as much as a 30-point lead. Despite the step in the right direction, the Magic still have a lot to clean up defensively and straighten out as they try to play their best basketball ahead of the Playoffs. The Orlando Magic brought Franz Wagner back from injury, even with just seven games remaining. It is a big risk considering his false starts coming back from the high ankle sprain that has cost him most of his season. Wagner is not one to quit on the season with time remaining. The Orlando Magic reached another breaking point as frustration erupted at the Kia Center in the form of boos and chants to fire Jamahl Mosley. The team hit another rough game where they folded after a strong start. Even with Franz Wagner returning to the lineup, the Magic could not find the energy to get back into the game. The Orlando Magic let their defense lead the way as they scored a huge win over the Phoenix Suns, 115-111. The Magic held the Suns to one field goal in the final 5.5 minutes to give their offense the time to pull away and get the shots they needed to win the game. Is this the momentum-building response the Magic need as the Playoff race tightens and the season draws to an end? This was far from a perfect game, filled with fouls and turnovers that kept the Magic from being fully rewarded for their efforts. But the Magic buckled down and responded to each adversity in this game. That is a long way from where they have been during the losing stretch. The Orlando Magic are at a crossroads as they approach the end of their season. They are clearly moving on from their coach. But it will take more than a coaching change to right the ship and get the Magic back on track. The pressure this summer is on Jeff Weltman to reshape the roster and be aggressive to improve the team. It is on him to turn this team from one that has focused mostly on rebuilding and focus more on players who can help the Magic win in the short term. Their window to win is now and this is a critical summer for the Magic to take the next step with their roster construction in addition to the potential for a new coach. The Orlando Magic suffered their worst loss in franchise history, falling 139-87 to the Toronto Raptors. What makes it worse is that they did so in a game that everyone acknowledged was vital to their Playoff chase. The Magic seem destined for the Play-In tournament and a summer of some extreme changes. The Magic have lacked an identity all year. The defense that powered the team to the Playoffs in the last two years. But that defense has been nonexistent all year long and mediocre at best. The Magic do not know what they can rely on and what their baseline for success can be. They are in the Play-In merely because of talent that this team has failed to maximize this year. But while it is clear that the team needs to overhaul its coaching staff and its bench, there is still the issue of this team's fight and will. The team has struggled at the first sign of trouble all season. And having given up an NBA-record 31-0 run after taking a six-point lead, the Magic again wilted when put under a little bit of pressure once again.
