It’s day 2 of NHL’s league year, and the Flyers made several additions on day 1 of free agency, including adding Dan Vladar to the stable of goaltenders, and signing Christian Dvorak to the center depth chart. Today, Charlie & Bill discuss any movement on Russian free agent winger Maxim Shabanov, as well as what happened at the first day of on-ice drills at Development Camp. The 2025-26 NHL season officially gets underway today, with July 1st not only representing Canada Day, but the beginning of a new league year, as well. The Philadelphia Flyers got mostly incredible reviews for their draft, and now with free agency opening, Danny Briere has the job of augmenting the roster. Charlie & Bill discuss free agent targets for goalies, whether they expect Philly to sign Maxim Shabanov today, and if any major trades are on the horizon. The new league year for the NHL starts at 12pm EST on July 1st which also means the beginning of free agency for players. While the Flyers did not draft a goaltender in the NHL Draft, Bill and Charlie of the PHLY Flyers Podcast debate which UFA netminders the Flyers could target.

Despite mixed reviews on the trade up to #12 for Jack Nesbitt, the additions of Porter Martone and a slew of 2nd round picks including Carter Amico and Shane Vansaghi have resulted in high marks from the nation media for Briere’s 3rd draft as general manager. Charlie & Bill dive into each pick from the weekend, before discussing what’s left on the Flyguys’ to-do list, with the new league year and free agency opening on Tuesday July 1.
