The Pine barrens are quite possibly the creepiest places in America. Flooded over the top the town of Oscarville, Georgia in 1956, Lake Lanier has become one of the most dangerous bodies of water in America, with the remains of buildings just below the surface ensnaring hundreds of boats and swimmers. Each year, more than 10 million people visit Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Georgia, even though it’s considered one of the deadliest lakes in America. There have been close to 1,000 deaths at Lake Lanier since its construction in 1956. 250 families were displaced, roughly 50,000 acres of farmland were destroyed, and 20 cemeteries were either relocated or otherwise engulfed by the lake’s waters. The town of Oscarvile was not demolished before the lake was filled, and its ruins still rest at the bottom of the manmade lake, making it the single most dangerous underwater surface in the United States. With the high number of deaths and accidents, it has a reputation of being cursed and haunted, from the encounters with the Lady of the Lake and hauntings by drowned swimmers whose bodies were never found. Nearly half of all lakes in the U.S. are manmade and are covering a rich history, from ancient temples and artifacts to pyramids and megalithic rock structures. On this episode, Jessica explores the “Not Deer” of the Appalachian Mountains. A Not Deer is what appears to be a deer, but it’s not quite a deer. At first glance, it looks like a deer, but upon further investigation, something is off about its behavior and anatomy. They often move like a newborn deer with extra-long legs, and some appear double-jointed. Their eyes sit towards the front of their head like a predator instead of on the sides like typical deer. Not Deers are not typically afraid of humans. Some report an uneasy feeling that there is an intelligence and emotion about them that shows that something is off about the creatures. They’re known to walk on two legs and will chase people if provoked. On this episode, Jessica goes "On the Hunt" with cryptid field investigator Greg Smith of Backwoods Cryptids to discuss recent Dogman and werewolf reports in his research area of North Georgia. Greg Smith grew up in the backwoods of the small Northwestern Georgia town of Chickamauga. He was raised on hunting and fishing, so he was always out in the woods. In a dense, isolated inhospitable land in Ireland known as Ossory, huge deadly wolves were said to roam and stalk the woods at night. The uncanny valley is a theory in aesthetics suggesting a humanoid object appearing almost, but not exactly, like a real human can evoke feelings of eeriness or revulsion, rather than familiarity, due to the object’s proximity to reality yet noticeable imperfections. . Over the past 170 years, schools across the United States and the world have been targeted and visited by UFOs. Recent studies suggest that there may be a vast underground city or complex beneath the Great Pyramid of Giza, with claims of multiple structures and pathways discovered using advanced radar technology. However, these findings have been met with skepticism from experts who argue that the technology used cannot accurately depict such deep structures, labeling the claims as exaggerated or unfounded. Scientists said they located five small room-like structures inside the pyramid using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technology. The group claims the five structures, which were previously unknown before the images, were found in the center of the pyramid. Data was compiled into images of what is believed to be below the pyramids, including the eight wells. The hollowed structure consists of spiral pathways leading down farther underground. “When we magnify the images we will reveal that beneath it lies what can only be described as a true underground city,” Malanga said. Some say there is a strong correlation between the layout and characteristics of these underground chambers and legendary Halls of Amenti as described in ancient myth, which include the Hall of Records, a hidden room believed to be underneath the pyramid complex or the Great Sphynx containing resources of information about the ancient people of the area. Beaver Dunes Park is a hotbed of paranormal activity, the dunes have been home to enough human disappearances, secret military excavations, and “Men in Black” sightings to earn it the title “Oklahoma’s Bermuda Triangle.” Spanish explorer Coronado led an expedition there in the 1500’s, where several of his men vanished mysteriously from the dunes in a blast of strange, green light, he described the phenomenon in his diary as “the work of the devil”. Native American guides in his journey warned his men not to wander into the Dunes because it was an evil place. “The Shaman’s Portal” title was coined by these natives, and mysterious disappearances of people in the area persist to this very day. Locals report military excavation sites under the cover of darkness. Many believe the area contains a portal to another dimension, as the natives believe, as there are electromagnetic disturbances recorded in the dunes. Some say that an ancient alien spacecraft is buried deep below the ground there. Dogman, Bigfoot and skinwalker encounters are not uncommon at the location. He is a sixteen-year veteran of the United States Air Force. John’s first novel RELICS was first published in 2017 after he spent a little over two years writing the novel and researching the topic of Sasquatch as he wrote. In 2018 the author and his wife moved to Honobia Oklahoma in the heart of Oklahoma Sasquatch Country. John has been a guest on several Bigfoot and Paranormal Podcasts. He was also a guest speaker at The Honobia Bigfoot Festival in 2018, he also served as MC for the 2021 and 2022 Honobia Bigfoot Festivals.
