CRABBY: Former US Attorney Rachel Paulose speaks out on ICE, court rulings and fraud
1/28/2026
Former US Attorney Rachel Paulose speaks out on ICE, court rulings and fraud.
Rachel Kunjummen Paulose is an American attorney. She was nominated by President George W. Bush and unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate to serve as a United States Attorney.
She was the youngest person and the first woman to lead the District of Minnesota and the first Indian American woman to be nominated by a president and confirmed by the Senate for any federal position.
Paulose's legal career began in 1997 when she worked as a law clerk under Judge James B. Loken of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. She then worked as a trial attorney in the Attorney General's Honors Program from 1998 to 1999. There, she prosecuted violations of the federal civil rights laws in the Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division.
From 1999 until 2002, she worked as an Assistant United States Attorney. She first-chaired many trials in federal district court. She also briefed and argued many appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Cases involved narcotics, violent crime, economic crime. Jury trial and Eighth circuit appellate highlights: precedent-setting detention of suspect based on economic threat alone; precedent-setting appellate work rejecting expansion of alien criminal defendants' claims of rights under Vienna Convention.
She worked in private practice after 2002 with the Williams & Connolly law firm in Washington D.C. until 2003, where her work focused on health care litigation and business.
She was with the Dorsey & Whitney law firm in Minneapolis from 2003 until December 2005. Work included defense of health care providers, commercial litigation, and constitutional advocacy. Paulose was appointed as the United States Attorney for the District of Minnesota in August 2006 and remained in that position until November 2007.

SCRAMBLE: The 'Doomsday Clock' is now 85 seconds to midnight — the closest it's ever been
1/27/2026
Humanity is closer to destroying itself, according to atomic scientists who revealed on Tuesday that the famous “Doomsday Clock” was set at 85 seconds to midnight — the closest it has been in the nearly 80-year history of the clock.
The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, a science-oriented advocacy group, made the announcement on Tuesday, metaphorically rating how close humankind is to annihilating itself with human-made advancements. Midnight represents the point at which humans will have made Earth unlivable.
“It is the determination of the bulletin’s science and security board that humanity has not made sufficient progress on the existential risks that endanger us all. We thus move the clock forward,” said Alexandra Bell, president and CEO of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. “The risks we face from nuclear weapons, climate change and disruptive technologies are all growing. Every second counts and we are running out of time. It is a hard truth, but this is our reality.”

SCRAMBLE: An interesting immigration statistical comparison between Trump in 2025 and Obama in 2012
1/22/2026
An interesting immigration statistical comparison between Trump in 2025 and Obama in 2012.
Citing the limited resources available for immigration enforcement and the impossibility of deporting 11 million undocumented people, the Obama administration sought to prioritize the use of the agency’s enforcement personnel, detention space, and removal assets. Noting that ICE could only remove an estimated 400,000 undocumented immigrants a year at most, representing less than 4% of the undocumented population in the U.S. during that time, the administration sought to channel limited resources towards more urgent threats. In a set of 2010 and 2011 memoranda from then-U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director John Morton, the Obama administration created three categories of undocumented immigrants that would be prioritized for arrest and deportation. The first priority consisted of undocumented immigrants who posed a threat to national security or public safety, including those engaged in or suspected of terrorism or espionage, those convicted of a crime or possessing outstanding criminal warrants, or those who participated in organized criminal gang activity. Within this priority category, ICE would draw distinctions based on the severity of convictions: level 1 offenders were convicted of aggravated felonies, level 2 offenders were convicted of any felony, and level 3 offenders were convicted of a misdemeanor.

1/21/2026
Former ICE agent Eric O'Denius joins the show today to discuss the presence of agents here in the Twin Cities.
O’Denius, 51-years-old, worked as a deportation officer for U.S. Immigration, Customs, and Enforcement for twenty-four years.
Since retiring in 2021, he says there’s been a change in how agents are interacting with the public.
O’Denius says during his tenure, if ICE officers encountered push-back in the field, they might leave and return, try to negotiate, and or get a criminal warrant.
We also have EXCLUSIVE video from outside of the St Paul Police Dept where ICE attempts to arrest someone.

Why exactly are we organizing an ICE out on Friday and shutting down businesses in the Twin Cities?
ICE operations and protests have led to event cancellations and business closures in the Twin Cities, affecting the local economy and daily life.
Snowboarders were expected to fill Minneapolis on Saturday, but the event was canceled. Comedy star John Mulaney also canceled three nights at the Armory due to the presence of ICE agents.
“Commerce and business doesn’t do well when there’s uncertainty,” said Adam Duininck, president and CEO of the Minneapolis Downtown Council.
Duininck said restaurants are hit hardest, with closures not seen since 2020. They are still counting the temporary closures, which are definitely in the dozens.
